Our Resident Ruki Enjoyer™ Doki has graced us with three new Ruki's for you all to enjoy!
This Ruki batch contains the adorable Plushie Ruki, Devious Darigan Ruki and the Delicious Strawberry Ruki.


Doki has also graced us with plushies of some of these Rukis, that you will now be able to find stocking in the Plushie Palace!

Good morning, Neopia! Bust out the synthesizers and put on your favorite neon leggings, because we have some tubular news to share today!

Following a recent flurry of reports about some unusual-looking (and radically fashionable!) pets roaming Virtupets Station, we launched an investigation to find out where these strange new guests were coming from. While our team hasn't learned much beyond some whispers of "glitches" and "the digital world", we can now confirm that these pets are here to stay - and they're bringing their flashy styles with them! Everyone, say hello to Moderneo's very first original pet color: Retrowave!



Retrowave pets are the perfect companions for vintage enthusiasts, dance club partygoers, and glam rock headbangers alike! But for those of you who like brighter styles and slower living, have no fear; many of these new pets have alternate looks in the form of Pastel Retrowave, an alternate color available through the Genetic Modification Laboratory on Virtupets Station! And, of course, with Retrowave pets comes a slew of new items perfect for making your gallery feel like it was ripped fresh out of a rented VHS (don't forget to rewind that before you return it)!


This update brings more than just our first custom colour - it brings in a massive boatload of items to go with it! There's so much to explore that we cant even begin to show you all the goodies that have been added to the site, the best way you can check it yourself is using the site search and going to the last pages of the items and scrolling through them, all I can say is that you're in for a treat!



This includes a petpet paint brush and the ability to paint petpets in the same colour, so this is not only a release of our first ever custom colour but also our first ever custom petpet colour!

The retrowave petpets come in an alternate colour just like the pet counterparts which can only be obtained through the lab ray, so get zapping (or wishing)!


To further celebrate the release of our first custom colour we're also having our first custom themes, technically! These match the virtual and dreamlike pets that we now offer, and can be obtained either by painting a pet retrowave, or dipping it into the fountain to achieve the same result! A very large thank you to Deebs for making these amazing themes for us!

It's time for Moderneopets first Annual Festival of Neggs event! Kari has been a bit busy recently so it won't run as it usually does, instead she's just gone and hid neggs randomly around the site. There are four different neggs each with their own prize pools!


These neggs can give chocolate, festival of negg prizes, easter negg capsules and... some incredible prizes such as a Candy Paint Brush, One-Use Chocofication Zappermajig and even a... CHOCOLATE DRAIK EGG!


Yep, you heard us correctly. The Candy Paint brush is now active and we have a brand new item which you can either eat (you monster) or hatch into your very own chocolate Draik!


These can be obtained from the neggs you find at a 1/10 chance. They contain:
2 random NC Items and a chance at either Colourful or Striped Painted Negg Wings

Admin is back at it again and will be donating a bunch of them to the Money Tree EVERY HOUR throughout the day! Now if all this news wasn't sweet enough for you... this next part might give you a sugar rush!

There are a total of SIX new chocolate pets joining us... with a special revamp for those who like their chocolate pets to have a bit of extra detail and flair.


The Korbat has received a revamp - don't worry if you prefer the bland look it used to have (no judging here) then you can always use the alt system to change it back to its "Classic" form!

It's kicking off its arrival with a blast of SIX colours! These incredibly colourful and delicious looking pets will be sure to capture the heart of any sweet toothed Neopian... but be sure to brush your teeth after this update as all this sugar could be bad for them, and you don't want the Tooth Faerie getting hold of all of your precious teeth after all!

This mega-update wouldn't be possible without the help of our amazing, talented and hard working artists! Since there was a LOT added this update I'll list the credits here:

As it turns out, many of the broken old trinkets the Berry Farmer tossed out were quite valuable instruments! With a bit of help from our favorite repair shop, the broken whistles were restored to their pristine condition, and seem to be particularly effective at drawing out the mysterious Lulamu out from their homes in the deep woods!

The Lulamu are a highly rare and skittish species of Neopet; so rare, in fact, that most Neopians didn’t even know they existed until just now! They seem to be quite fond of nibbling on berries though, and keep shedding off their horns all over the place in the Berry Farmers fields, leaving quite a mess!


The Berry Farmer has since agreed to stop throwing them into the Rubbish Pile so long as helpful Neopians come by to pick them up from his farm instead, which is a good thing too because this elusive species seems to be completely impossible to find unless you play some music they like on these whistles in a place where they are sure to hear it. It’s rumored that there may be some places around Brightvale where the Lulamus like to hide…

The Lulamu are quite shy, but once they warm up to you, you’ll never have a more loyal Neopet by your side. Luckily enough, they’re also very friendly and seem to get along very well with all other Neopets. They’re especially fond of music though, so make sure you have a steady supply of instruments handy to keep them entertained!


As always, the shopkeepers of Neopia love to take advantage of the hype that Neopians feel when discovering a new species, and so they have created quite a few trinkets in the Lulamu name. Kauvara has also concocted a decent selection of Lulamu Morphing Potions as well, as procuring the whistles might be difficult...


This huge update with the custom species and all the goodies attached is all thanks to our amazing and talented artist Taffer, thank you for gracing us with such a lovely petite and adorable friend (and for actually giving people a reason to play Pick Your Own)!

Gold and Silver... when those words are mentioned what pops into your mind? Shiny and Opulent? Maybe bling and beauty. Perhaps some sparkle... Well all of those wouldn't really describe the colours that the original Neopets have, unfortunately. To rectify this - our artists have been working long and hard to reforge and polish up the metals on Neopia!

Though not all of the Metals have been hit with the rework yet, slowly but surely we will have an update to every gold and silver eventually, and have more in the works even as we speak! Though don't worry - if you love your butter or pewter pets you will still be able to have them under the alt colour of "Classic".


It wouldn't make much sense if the butter and pewter brushes weren't also changed to go along with this massive update, so as you see we've given them a fresh shine too!

This update has 20 brand new additions to the Metal family, and 18 reworks!

Citizens of Meridell have been spotting the Berry Farmer making an unusual number of trips to the Rubbish Dump lately, hauling bags and bags of junk.

It seems like the poor old Gelert has been having quite the build-up of berries and other rubbish piling up in his berry fields, far more than the few berries and knick-knacks collected by the kind Neopians he lets roam around picking his berries.


I wonder if he threw away anything interesting into the Rubbish Dump during his cleaning spree?

Meanwhile, the citizens of Brightvale have been hearing odd noises coming from the woods surrounding their peaceful kingdom… whatever could it be?

The Grundo Scientist has opened up his laboratory in Virtupets in an effort to get more funding for his projects. In exchange he will be able to scan your pets for any possible mutations in their genetic code and then if you wish - change them to make that mutation active.

The Rainbow Pool - being a magical fourth wall breaking feature will also display all pets with alternate colours available.
You will see [X Alt(s)] on the bottom right of the circle image of searched pets in the pool.
Clicking on them will take you to the view poses page as normal and you will be able to also see any alternatives available.

The Grundo Scientist charges 50,000 Neopoints each time he changes your pets genes. If your pet changes species/colour then this alt will be lost and you will have to re-buy it later on.


To kick off the release of the alt/genetics system - our lovely artists have compiled a bunch of alts for the purple colour, as many people have expressed the desire to have a purple without orange spots, we will be aiming to have all purple pets have a pure purple alt eventually.

It's coming off with a strong start with 29 pets supporting it already (those who already are pure purple will have an "Orange Infused" alt added which will give them orange spots instead!)
